The 8th conference on
the Theory & Mathematical aspects of Black Holes will be held this spring
in Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada from May 10-14 2011.
Black Holes VIII will be
a research-related conference focusing on the latest advances in the
theoretical and mathematical aspects of black hole physics. Particular
attention will be paid to such mathematically oriented problems as exact black
hole solutions of Einstein's equations in higher and lower dimensions,
uniqueness theorems, black hole thermodynamics, loop-quantum gravity and string-theoretic
approaches to black hole physics, new aspects of gauge-gravity duality,
numerical studies of black hole collisions and critical gravitational collapse.
The format will consist
of presentations from invited speakers, opportunities for contributed talks,
plus free time for discussion of research topics and ideas. Graduate students
are particularly welcome to participate.
There will also be time
to see the sights of the Niagara region, which is particularly beautiful during
the month of May. Along with the
Falls themselves, there is the Niagara Whirlpool, trails along the Niagara
Gorge, Theatre at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Brock’s Monument at Queenston, tours of
the Niagara vineyards, and more.
