Pityopsis aspera (Shuttlew. ex Small) Small

Common and native much of the southeastern United States.  Plants have glandular heads and peduncles.

Two varieties are recognized.  Var. aspera is infrequent in northern Florida and adjacent south Georgia.  Var. adenolepis (Fern.) Semple & Bowers is common and widely distributed from Missippi to northeastern Virginia in the Piedmont.
