Brintonia E.L. Greene 

RAYLESS MOCK GOLDENROD

A single species B. discoidea (Ell.) E.L. Greene. Herbaceous perennials found on  sandy soils, rich, sometimes swampy woods on the coastal plain in Alabama, n Florida., sw Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.  It lacks ray florets and has whitish disc florets tinted with purplish red.  The pappus bristles are also sometimes distinctively purplish red.  Flowering August-October.
