Chemical Elements

A chemical element or often called element is a substance that cannot be made any simpler by chemical means. The following is a list of all known and artificially made elements. This list is given in an alphabetical order.

For each element, there is a Name, a Symbol, Atomic number (#) and Atomic weight. The name was usually given by the discoveror, and the atomic number was given according to its position on the periodic table of elements. The atomic weight is determined by comparing with a special isotope of carbon called carbon-12 which is assumed to be exactly 12.

Some elements do not have stable isotopes, and for them the mass of most stable isotope are given in ( ), such as (227).
