The genius of science is revealed hereWelcome and thank you for visiting the Faculty of Science’s website at the University of Waterloo.
Waterloo Science gives its students the core scientific training they need to save a life, make the future, solve complex problems, and change the world.
Beyond its academic programs, the Faculty of Science provides students with unique opportunities to participate in the largest and most respected co-operative education program in the world. Students can obtain almost two years of relevant work experience while earning a salary to help pay for their education.
In 2012, the new Mike and Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre will open its doors for the first time. The $160 million centre will be home to not one but two forefront areas of science and engineering -- quantum information technology and nanotechnology. The five-storey facility will be the most complex scientific building on campus.
Science is also the research powerhouse of the university, bringing in more than 30 percent of Waterloo’s total research income. Our award-winning faculty members hold significant research grants, and are leaders and collaborators on campus-wide research efforts.
It is an exciting and transformative time for the Faculty of Science. I invite you to visit the campus and see all that Waterloo Science has to offer.
Warmest Regards,
Terry McMahon,
Dean of Science
